The month of Monsoon is generally referred to as Saavan ka Mahina in Northern parts of India.

It is believed about this festival that Mata Parvati did penance to get Lord Shiva. Pleased with the penance of Mother Parvati, Bholenath accepted Mother Parvati as his wife on the day of ‘Hariyali Teej.

Lord Shiva is worshiped to please Lord Shiva. Some people keep fast and donate.

Yogurt, Milk, Honey, Ghee, and Sugar, these five immortals are called Panchamrit. Pour water on Shivling and also pour Panchamrit.

In the month of the monsoon,  lakhs of devotees visit many religious places in India including Haridwar, Kashi, Ujjain, and Nashik to visit Jyotirling.

Lord Shiva is worshiped by chanting Om Namah Shivaya Mantra and Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is chanted 108 times in the name of Lord Shiva.

Take a bath early in the morning and worship Lord Shiva.

Married women keep a fast of Shiva in monsoon to make their married life happy and unmarried women also for a good groom.

The rain that falls in the monsoon cools the hot body of Shiva. Lord Shankar himself has told the glory of the month of Sawan to the Sanatkumars that in my three eyes, the sun is the right, the left moon, and the fire is the middle eye.

Due to this Bholenath, who drinks poison for public welfare, gets coolness and relaxation. That’s why Shiva has such a deep attachment to Monsoon.
