On the day of Ahoi Ashtami, women observe a strict fast for the longevity and prosperity of their children Then the fast is broken after offering arghya to the stars at night and then eat food.

Ahoi is actually a form of Mother Parvati. Shri Shiva -Parvati and Ganesha are worshipped.
Radha kund- On this day people wishing to have children also come to take a bath in Radha Kund. The water of Krishna Kund appears black and the water of Radha Kund appears white. Which symbolizes the black color of Shri Krishna and the white color of Goddess Radha.
Syahu  Mala – In the Ahoi Ashtami fast, women also wear Syahu Mala, which is made of silver grains and Ahoi lockets. Silver cream should be worn on this day and should be worn till Diwali. This is for the children. Ahoi is performed when a child is born and a son is married.
procreation- Women who have to face miscarriage or have problem in conceiving, they should do Ahoi Ashtami Puja and fast to get child.
Have a meal – The name of Mother Annapurna Devi should be taken before taking food. Food is life, believe it. Food is God and  do respect. Mother Ahoi becomes very happy if the needy, orphans and elderly people are fed food on the day of Ahoi Ashtami.
